[ソウル 26日 ロイター] 韓国の聯合ニュースは、韓国当局者の情報として、北朝鮮が26日か27日に同国西海岸で新たに短距離ミサイルを発射する準備を進めていると報じた。

 北朝鮮は前日、2回目となる核実験を実施したほか、短距離ミサイルを3発発射し、国際的な非難を浴びた。

 報道によると、同当局者は「北朝鮮は、(5月)25─27日に平安南道沖の海域を航行禁止にする措置を宣言した。きょうから明日の間に短距離ミサイルを発射する模様だ」と述べた。

と報道されているけれど。。。
日本は今や軍備世界3位だそうな。
どうして、それほど小さなミサイルで騒ぐのか。
日本はきっと、ミサイルを打ち落とすもっと凄い兵器を今やたくさん持ってるだろうし、日本にミサイルが落ちる前に最新レーダーにひっかかる。
それをわざわざこれだけ取り上げてるのは理由があるね。
恐れを振りまけば、もっと軍備力を上げられる。
そして、なんだかんだうまいこといって、憲法9条だって変えちゃいたいのかな。

クラスはすべて全レベルでどなたでも参加可能です。1クラスでも2クラス参加でもOKです。
1クラス目は、立位のポーズを中心にエネルギーをつけアクティブなクラス、2クラス目は座位のポーズ、リストラティブを行いながら呼吸法を致します。

Dominica will be teaching 2 yoga classes on Sunday June 7th in Nikko at Myogetsubo studio.  Classes are All Level classes and anyone is welcome to join one or both classes.  The first class will be more energizing and challenging with focus on standing  poses.  The efforts and work of Sri Pattabhi Jois has greatly contributed to the popularity of yoga and effected most of us in the yoga community directly or indirectly. It is with sadness that I share this email below which was just received from Kausthub Desikachar.

Sri K Pattabhi Jois
1915-2009

It is with great sadness that I wish to inform you about the passing of Guruji Sri K Pattabhi Jois. Following a battle with ailing health, he passed today afternoon India time. He was 94.

Guruji, as he was fondly know all over the world, was one of Sri T Krishnamacharya’s earlier students in Mysore. He has been instrumental in spreading one of Krishnamcharya’s methods, which is now popularly known as Astanga Vinyasa Yoga. He has been one of the most influential teachers of our time. It is our great previlege to have shared this earth with a master of his caliber.

The Krishnamacharya Healing & Yoga Foundation, as well as Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, will be organizing a prayer in his honor on the 19 May 2009, at 6:00 pm at the premises of the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram. We invite everyone to come and participate.

TKV Desikachar, who is in Tennessee currently, will organize a prayer meeting there with his group of students.

At this difficult moment, it is the best gift we can offer his family.

The following is based on some notes from Swami Dayananda’s lecture and from study of his books.

Jagat- is a sanskrit word that refers to the world around us seen and  unseen, known and unknown.  It includes that which we are unaware of as well as that which we are aware of. Just because we are not aware of it does not mean that it does not exist. It reminds us that there is ignorance - a state of not having complete knowledge about what is there.

Ignorance is something we all have. Ignorance is like darkness. Although I may be in a dark room full of things, without the light I cannot see what is there. Although I do not see it, it still exists, I am just ignorant of it.

We are conscious beings. Consciousness has freedom to judge itself. A human often judges himself to be different from what she is. Struggle stems from this miss-judgment of our Self worth. I do not see the true beauty and the wholeness that is there existing within me. My judgment of low self value creates my desire for me to be different from what I am. I see myself as less than fully acceptable.  I am ignorant; what I posses is in darkness and I can not see it.

Bhati is something that shines- an original source of light. Anabhati is-  something that shines after or is the secondary or reflected light.

The sun is bhati, the moon is anabhati. Without the sun the moon cannot shine.

The light of consciousness is bhati, the jagat is anabhati. Mind is bhati, thought is anabhati. I am bhati- I shine and everything else shines after.

Knowledge is the light that shines to dispel the darkness of ignorance. Becoming knowledgeable of our true Self is a process of removing the ignorance to reveal what is already there.”Self is- it becomes evident to itself. The Self is self evident”.

こんにちは! ナンシー・フィンレーです。カリフォルニアのアプトスから投稿しています。久しぶりに梅雨の季節をSHIZENで迎えるのを楽しみにしています。 五月二十九日に東京に到着し、六月中は幾つかのオープンクラスと月曜の夜19:30からのシリーズクラス『Walk the Talk/有言実行』(Taking the first steps: Getting your feet to walk the talk/一歩を踏み出す:脚の使い方を学ぶ』)(ナンシー先生)(全五回)を教えます。

ほとんどの人は自分に関する何らかのセルフイメージをもっています。しかし大抵の人が抱いているセルフイメージというものは、実際の自分とはかけ離れており、己れを過大評価しているか、あるいは逆に矮小化して捉えていることが多いようです。人は、このようなマインド(心/思考)の働きのために、現に起きていることをありのままに体験できなくなることがあります。そこで、このシリーズクラスでは、ありのままの自分を受け入れていくための方法を紹介していきます。今、ここにいる自分を敏感に感じとっていくことで意識レベルは高まり、Walking the Talk(自分で言っていることを実行すること)ができるようになれば大きな達成感を味わえます。

“Walking my Talk”/「私のこれまでの歩み」
人生の新しい一ページを開くために、私は四年前に東京からアメリカに引っ越しました。当時は、二十二年間も住み慣れた日本を離れたくありませんでした。自分の建築スタジオも開設し、地元のコミュニティでデザインとヨガも教えていました。いざ旅立ちの時を迎えると、自分でも驚くほどの不安感に苛まれました。まるで、未知の時空に背中から逆さまに落っこちていくような感覚。。。次から次へと押し寄せる変化の波にのまれていく感覚は死ぬ時の境地に似ているのかもしれません。実際、ある意味において私は死んだのです。しかし、死の後には再生が待っていました。アメリカに住み始めてからの四年間、私は多くの種を蒔きました。短い間にそれらが芽を出し、様々な成果として実っていくのを目の当たりにしています。あらゆることは過ぎ去っていきますが、また形を変えて再生されます。喪失と再生の間に存在する微妙なバランスに気付くことができた時、この上ない喜びを感じました。

SHIZENに昔のように毎日顔を出して、このヨガコミュニティが育んでいる様々な芽や果実に遭遇するのを楽しみにしています。ドミニカ、私を呼び寄せてくれてありがとう!

現在私は、夫のスティーヴと愛犬ベラ&スカイと共にカリフォルニアのモントレー湾自然保護地区内にあるアプトスという小さな海辺の村で暮らしています。海岸沿いの崖の上に位置する静寂に包まれた広大な庭園の中に自宅兼ヨガスタジオを構えています。生徒さんはのびのびとした雰囲気の中で心を解放してヨガをすることができます。クラスは、「非暴力」、「思いやり/共感」に加え、「思考と言動のアラインメント(整列)」といったヨガの原則に則って行われます。生徒さんはアサナを学ぶことで、知識を実体験の中で実践的に理解していく術を身につけることができます。では、近々お会いしましょう! ナンシーより

Hello from Aptos! Nancy here. I’m blogging to say that I am looking forward to being in Tokyo during “Tsuyu” and at Shizen yoga again. I’ll be arriving May 29th and will stay through June. During that time I will be offering some open classes and a series on Monday evenings (5 sessions) from 19:30 entitled,“Walk the Talk”
Frequently, we have an idea of who we are. Whether that image is exaggerated or underrated, the mind keeps us active and often separated from the actual experience of what is. My intention behind this series is to present to yoga students a way in to an experience of acceptance: of where we are. From a place of sensing where and who we are brings awareness and practicing walking the talk becomes a triumphant joy.

If a series doesn’t fit your schedule, then there are several open classes I will be offering. In all there are 7 other classes to choose from. I look forward to having a chance to work with you. Here’s a list of the times I’ll be teaching open classes at Shizen yoga:

“Walking my Talk”
Four years ago I moved from Tokyo to begin a new chapter in my life. At that time, it was hard to imagine leaving as I had been in Japan for 22 years. I had an Architecture studio and was teaching design and yoga in my community. When it came time to go, it was astonishing to feel the sense of instability that rushed in; it was like falling backwards… into something vast and unknown. I imagine that dying is similar to that rush of change. And in a sense, I did die. With death, comes renewal and in the last 4 years I have planted many seeds. In that short time, I am seeing the sprouts and fruits of falling backwards into the unknown. Being able to be aware of this delicate balance between where all must pass and where all is renewed is a tremendous source of joy. I look forward to contributing with a daily presence in the Shizen yoga community again, and to see the sprouts and fruits that this community nurtures. Thanks Dominica for your kind invitation.

I live in Aptos with Steve, my husband, and Bella and Skye, our two dogs. Aptos is a small beach village located in the Monterey Bay Nature Sanctuary. There I offer classes from my home studio, a peaceful beach cliff retreat with gardens. My classes hold an atmosphere that is welcoming and nurturing. They are conducted based on yogic principles such as non-injury, compassion and alignment of thought, word and action. With practical understanding of these values, I work with students in asana so that they can apply and ground theoretical knowledge through their actual experience.

When we say I am a yogi, he is a yogi- the title of the kind of yoga one practices is never added. We never say “He is a Sivananda yogi, she is a Kripalu yogini.” It is understood that the practice of yoga is the pursuit of the same goal- whatever the approach. As many great yoga masters like B.K.S Iyengar and Pattabi Joyce have both stated, the branches of yoga are all connected to the same trunk, feeding from the same root. It is with this inspiration that Eco Nikko is bringing 8 teachers from different yoga approaches together over 3 days in 4 venues  to  teach the sprit of yoga as One.  This is one of the aspects that makes “Yoga Nikko 2009 -The Spirit of Yoga in the Heart of Nikko”  a truly unique retreat offering for students of any level.  Practicing yoga with knowledgeable teachers in temples and shrines among the beautiful nature of the World Heritage Site of Nikko, this will be truly be a unique and memorable experience for participants. Before I was a mother I was a yogi. Once I became a mother I realized that motherhood is indeed the advanced yoga practice. Applying what I have learned in yoga to motherhood is truly an ongoing practice and application of yama and niyama.  I try to  act with love when disciplining my daughter- especially challenging when I have just fallen into a deep sleep and am being shaken awake to be asked “Are you asleep mommy?”.  As a full time working mother, I remind myself everyday that teaching yoga is there for a lifetime, but raising  this child is a “limited time only” job experience  for which my services will no longer be needed for one day. More importantly, I remind myself to make the most of each moment I have with my daughter, because the experiences that I am making with her now will be the ones I will be reflecting back on for the rest of my life. Finally, the most sage advise I have ever consistently applied in my time as a mother is from my own mom- never try to solve or address large problems at night. Sleep on them, and they will be shrunk down to size when you wake up in the morning. I have always found this to be true, as we all know a tired mind is our own worst enemy.   To all the fellow moms and moms-to- be in the community of Shizen, I hope you had a great mothers day and that every day is a special day for you  in your advanced yoga practice!
